Friday 09th September 2016 - Miles and Erica (The Wonder Stuff)

miles hunt and erica nockalls lst161402

Since 2006 Miles Hunt and Erica Nockalls have toured the UK, Europe and the USA performing acoustic shows including tracks from their own albums in addition to Wonder Stuff material and the occasional cover version. As well as the Wonder Stuff both Miles and Erica have performed as solo artists and various collaborations. They have released two studio albums alongside one live album and Erica has worked and performed with a number of acts including The Proclaimers,The Mission and Ting Tings.

All interspersed with Miles' trademark inter song banter and insight into the background behind some of the tracks being performed. Miles came to us last December for a sell out show and we expect this to be a full house too, so don't delay.

Friday 07th October 2016 - Chris Helme

Chris Helme amended

Chris first rose to prominence as the front man of John Squire’s post-Stone Roses band ‘The Seahorses’ which saw him touring extensively and sharing the stage with The Rolling Stones, U2 and Oasis in numerous support slots.  Now solo- he is still rightfully remembered for Britpop classics Love Is The Law and Blinded By The Sun – songs that evoked everything the 90’s stood for, the excitement, the culture and the bands that provided a voice in a period of political and social imbalance.

Chris’ enviable back catalogue, bolstered further by his acclaimed works with The Yards, but it’s his last album,  The Rookery’s which has a knack for melody and imaginative, intricate, three-way guitar interplay that brings each track to such lush, blossoming, climaxes. Add to this Chris’ keen ear for arranging and those brooding string passages which resonate even more deeply.  Melodies rooted in traditional folk are reimagined on an album of rich variation, testament to his most powerful weapon – his voice.

Can you really not talk? Have you considered an exorcism? Are you just in it for the parking? Have you ever tried talking, just to see what happens? How do you have sex? Seriously, can you not talk at all?

These are just a few of the bizarre questions that BBC New Comedy Award Winner Lost Voice Guy gets asked on a regular basis. Now he's decided to answer them all for you in his new show. Think of it as being like a disabled FAQ for stupid people.

Friday 24th March 2017 - John Otway

John Otway 2017John Otway is an English singer-songwriter who has built a sizeable cult audience through extensive touring, a surreal sense of humour and a self-deprecating underdog persona.

Sales of Otway's sixth single, the half-spoken love song Really Free increased dramatically and reached number 27 in the UK Singles Chart. An appearance on the BBC's flagship music programme Top of the Pops, where Otway & Barrett were introduced by Elton John later, Otway was finally a star. It would however, be his greatest success for some time.

Although no-one wanted to listen to Otway on record, the live show remained as chaotic as ever and the possibility of physical injury meant that his audiences remained loyal. By the mid-1980s, Otway had appeared as a special guest in the final episode of the BBC comedy The Young Ones and was constantly touring, clocking up around 150 shows a year.

On 6 October 2002, Otway celebrated with the crowd as Bunsen Burner was announced at number nine. After 25 years, Otway was back in the charts and back on Top of the Pops. He was also finally able to release his Greatest Hits album. Commenting on the fact that the title of this album is now in the plural, Otway was justifiably very proud of it for having: "finally got it [the 's'] on the right side of the word Hit". Otway has been with us twice so far and each time tickets have sold out so we’re making it an    annual event!

DeanFriedman Press 2015 01m

Dean Friedman first marked his entry into pop consciousness with the Top 20 chart success of his infectious hit single, Ariel, a quirkily irresistible and uncategorizable pop song about a free spirited, pot-smoking, vegetarian Jewish girl in a peasant blouse who lived, as the lyric goes

Dean scored again with the release of his follow up album, “Well, Well,” Said the Rocking Chair’, and the now classic hit single,Lucky Stars. This magical duet, performed with singer, Denise Marsa, zoomed to the top of the UK singles charts, going instantly gold.Lucky Stars paved the way for a slew of Friedman hits, including familiar radio staples such as Lydia, Rocking Chair, McDonald’s Girl and Woman of Mine.

His consummate songwriting and performing, have earned him a loyal international following, devoted to the sophisticated, funny and profound work of a master songsmith.

Friedman’s latest CD, Submarine Races, has been receiving rave reviews from fans and critics, alike. The long awaited studio album contains 13 brand new tracks, lyrical soundscapes and story-songs, bursting with life, love and survival in a surreal world.

After an almost sell out show with us earlier this year we are delighted that Dean has agreed to come to us as part of his 2017 tour.
